John Galsworthy biography

John Galsworthy, recipient of the 1932 Nobel Prize for Literature, was born into an upper-middle-class family in Surrey, England.

John Galsworthy, recipient of the 1932 Nobel Prize for Literature, was born into an upper-middle-class family in Surrey, England. His father was a solicitor. He was educated at Harrow and New College at Oxford. In 1890 he was called to the bar, but he never practised law.

Galsworthy wrote 20 novels, 27 plays, and 173 short stories. His first work, FROM THE FOUR WINDS, was published when he was 30. He is most famous for THE FORSYTE SAGA, a series of novels published between 1906 and 1921.

John Galsworthy died in Grove Lodge, Hampstead in 1933.
